📘 Understanding the JEE Exam Pattern (Main & Advanced)

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is one of the most prestigious and competitive entrance tests in India, conducted in two stages — JEE Main and JEE Advanced. A clear understanding of the exam pattern is crucial for effective preparation. JEE Main is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and is the qualifying exam for admission to NITs, IIITs, and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs). It also serves as the eligibility test for appearing in JEE Advanced, which is required for admission into the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

🔹 JEE Main Pattern:

JEE Main consists of three subjects — Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics — and follows a computer-based multiple-choice format. Each subject includes 20 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and 10 Numerical Value Questions (NVQs), out of which only 5 NVQs need to be answered, making it a total of 90 questions, with 75 to be attempted. Each correct answer carries 4 marks, and for MCQs, 1 mark is deducted for every wrong answer. The exam duration is 3 hours, and it tests not only factual knowledge but also speed, accuracy, and conceptual application.
